As we approach the end of this break, we have playtesting planned for Duolbots. But before then, there still needs a lot of work to be done on the front-end. As of right now, most of our front-end systems require polishing before they could give players the feedback which we would really like Duolbots to provide. To flush out the UI Duolbots currently has, fellow programmer, Wyatt and I have been compiling what should be changed to improve the flow and feel of our UIs.
For example, when players build a bot they choose the chassis which bots they'd like to use. The decisions made during the phase when the current state of the bot building scene was created hadn't been adapted to keep the game consistent. The planned designed for what building a bot would look like is a split-screen where each player is able to control their respective sides. By doing so, we would be able to both reduce the amount of time the players spend building a bot and also keep the game consistent with both the player joining and in-game phases in which they both have split-screens.
